If 3 year olds taught college

J:  So mom, were your students still fussing today?

Me:  Yes.

J:  Why?

Me:  Because they don't want to do their work or follow the rules and obey.

J:  So did you put them in time out?

Me:  No.

J:  Why not?

Me:  You can't really do that in college.

Then the very difficult task of trying to explain grades to a 3 year old . . . not sure I did very well.

  1. J is right. I can think of lots of adults who need an extended time out.

  2. Only as an adult, time out sounds awesome. I'd like to give myself time out for an hour or two and take a nap. Or read a book. Or a take a bath.

  3. This made me laugh out loud. I've had that conversation with my daughters! P wanted to know when my students have recess, too. Me: "Every Thursday and Saturday night, can't you hear them?!"
